Steve Cotterill previews Town's fixture with Accrington Stanley

Steve Cotterill previews Town's Sky Bet League One away fixture with Accrington Stanley.

Shrewsbury Town return to Sky Bet League One action this weekend with the away trip to face Accrington Stanley.

Town will be looking to make it back-to-back league wins with the fixture on the road following the 2-1 Salop win over Gillingham.

Town's Manager Steve Cotterill is expecting a stern test from John Coleman's Stanley but hopes to see a positive performance from the Shrews.

On the fixture:

"Accrington have had a couple of good results already. It's always a difficult game up at Accrington but one that we are looking forward to. They have managed to keep hold of a few of their players after rumours they might lose a few before the end of the window; I'm sure John will be pleased with that.

"We know what Accrington are about. His team plays good football, to be fair to him. I knew John Coleman from the first time he was there before he went away. He's done a really good job there, and Accrington and John obviously suit each other. He's certainly earned the time he's had at that football club. He did a really good job the first time he was there and he's done another good job since he went back."

On the Town squad:

"A lot of the lads were fresh in training this morning because there were a lot of changes in the team from the other night. We wanted to give some of the lads a rest and the others some game-time. The lads were all fine in training this morning in preparation for the game.

"I didn't want to play Josh Vela in the last game and wanted to give him a little break. Josh is one of those high-energy players and does a lot of work. He's played a lot of minutes so it was a good opportunity to give him a bit of a break. He did have a bit of a bad toe but he's played on that for about two or three games. Everyone else is all good."
