Steve Cotterill previews Town's fixture with Crewe Alexandra

Steve Cotterill previews Town's Sky Bet League One home fixture with Crewe Alexandra.

Shrewsbury Town return to Montgomery Waters Meadow this weekend as Steve Cotterill's men welcome Crewe Alexandra to Shropshire.

Salop will be looking for a return to winning ways with the visit of the Railway Men following last weekend's disappointment away from home against Accrington Stanley.

Town's Manager is expecting another tough test from David Artell's men having played the Alex recently in the Papa John's Trophy.

On the fixture:

"We've had more preparation time for this fixture, unlike the last time we played Crewe. The two sides will be completely different from what they will be on Saturday. Crewe have had the same philosophy and ethos for a number of years now. They've done incredibly well in producing their own players and surviving. I would imagine it's very well run in terms of the business.

"I think they've done very well over the last few years and David Artell has done a great job. They have a changing squad because that's what happens. They end up having to change their squad because they end up selling players. Their business model is very, very good. I think they are a very well-run football club.

"This free week has given the lads a mental break for a start. Going from Saturday to Tuesday for a good few weeks is taxing on the players. Sometimes, it's difficult to replenish the mental side of things in between those games. This week has given them a little bit of breathing space and has given us an opportunity to work on things that we feel we need to be better at.

"Having David back in the squad is positive. He's a good lad and he's another important member of the squad. It's always important to have all of our lads fit and available. We are happy, we've had a good week and we are looking forward to the game on Saturday.

"We don't have any injury concerns going into the game. Josh Vela had a little bit of a toe problem in the last couple of weeks but that was probably down to the number of games. That appears to have cleared up now."
