Smithy's Bar undergoing renovations

5 August 2022

This weekend, Smithy’s will be closed as the bar is undergoing internal redevelopment works. However the outdoor bar will be open as usual and another bar run by Gin Different will be open too.

Exciting changes are underway in the Community Football Hub as we increase internal space, making room for a bigger bar within Smithy’s which will improve the speed of service and modernise the space.

The works are being completed in partnership with Carlsberg, with key decisions around the works being decided by members of the Supporters Parliament.

Moving forward, a group of fans has come together to ensure that the bar area will be a welcoming space for all fans to utilise not only on matchdays but throughout the year.

Delays at Smithy’s have been caused by key parts being unavailable, which Carlsberg is working hard to remedy.

In the meantime, an outdoor bar run by Gin Different will be available in the Fan Zone as well as the usual outside bar to help you have the best experience possible this Saturday and for the upcoming game against Derby. For our game against Carlisle, only one bar will be open due to an expected lower attendance.

“The works taking place are hugely exciting, and once completed,  Smithy’s will be a place that fans will really enjoy! It’s been great to be able to consult and be part of the process. We can’t wait for the bar to officially open” said Mike Davis, Supporter Liaison Officer.

Brian Caldwell, CEO said: “The redevelopment works in Smithy’s is one we’ve been working towards based on fan feedback, whilst it's disappointing it won’t be ready for the Accrington game, I’m confident it will be worth the wait and continue to improve the matchday experience for supporters.”
