Carl Winchester reflected on today's win over Lincoln City at Montgomery Waters Meadow.
Goals from Luke Leahy and Tom Bayliss either side of half-time secured a 2-0 win for Town over today's opponents.
It was a professional performance that backed up last weekend's win over Peterborough United, with Town looking defensively solid throughout the game and dangerous when they attacked.
Winchester - who joined Shrewsbury Town on loan from Sunderland in the summer - discussed the game, his first few months in Shrewsbury and next weekend's game at home to Bolton Wanderers.
On the performance and victory:
“I think it (the win) was needed to be fair. We needed to bounce back in the league as it’s been a while since our last win in the league obviously, last week in the FA Cup, it was great to get the win but it was more important to get the three points today, and thankfully we did that.”
On the win:
“Yeah (I feel like it's been coming), definitely the way we have been playing and a couple of games, I think we have been very unlucky so I think the lads have been brilliant since I came in. Obviously, it's been tough for the gaffer because he has limited numbers and has to use the same players, but the lads have been brilliant, and the injuries obviously have not really helped but the lads dug in and have been brilliant.”
On Luke Leahy's penalty:
“It's brilliant. We are always confident when skip steps up he is a great penalty taker and a great player and he has been brilliant for us since I came in so fair play to him.”
On the second goal:
“We have been working on that all week in training, getting the ball out wide, especially to Jordan Shipley because his delivery is right on the money every time and Bayliss making the box and them two combining again to score so it’s great to see.”
On keeping a clean sheet:
“They're a very good team. Obviously, we have done analysis on them and they have really good players that could hurt you but look the lads have dealt with it brilliantly today and we're buzzing with the clean sheet.”
On his contribution today:
“You have to give your all for the team and I always say in my interviews the first thing is working hard and that’s what I'm trying to do. That gives the forward players a license to go and do what they want.”
On life in Shropshire:
“I'm really enjoying it and have said it before but there is a great set of lads here and the changing room is brilliant. The manager and staff have all been great with me so I'm really enjoying it.”
On the League One table being so close:
“I think we went up to 12th today. We have got to get that momentum and shoot right up the table and I say we have to score at home we are totally capable in this league and we need to kick on now and get the next one and go again.”
On the upcoming Bolton fixture:
“(We are) 100 percent (building momentum from the two wins). Bolton are a really good team and have some very good players but look, like I say, I fancy our chances against anyone and we will prepare right this week and I'm looking forward to it.”
