Elliott Bennett discusses today's game against Bolton Wanderers

22 January 2022

Elliott Bennett spoke to press after today's tough defeat at home to Bolton Wanderers.

Shrewsbury Town lost out narrowly at home to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon after Dion Charles netted an 89th-minute winner.

Elliott Bennett had a couple of chances himself but failed to really trouble Wanderers ‘keeper James Trafford.

Speaking after the game, Bennett said it was a hard result to take but the side now has to focus on starting another run.

On the game:

“They’re the games that hurt. As the manager said, it’s not right for Shrewsbury Town to get beaten, we’ve been on a great run of late and we’re disappointed. Over the course of the 90 minutes, we were the better team and the goal goes in so late, but we haven’t got long to let it sink in, we’ve got to move on from it quickly.

“We were the better team across the game, it’s a great finish from their lad, but we’re still disappointed and we want to win every game we go into, the manager wants that, the players want that.

“The first shot of mine was a little closer than the second, but I’ve got to hit the target there and today it just wasn’t our day to get the win. We’ve got to go again on Tuesday night away at Gillingham and then go again on Saturday and get another run going.

“The supporters have been fantastic, I think they can see what we want to do and they’re getting right behind us and long may that continue. Hopefully, we can give them more to shout about going forward."
