Shrewsbury Town is delighted to announce the signing of Matthew Bondswell on loan from Newcastle United until the end of the season.
The 19-year-old left-back has featured 12 times for Newcastle United's Under-23s in the Premier League 2 this season and played full games against Sheffield Wednesday and Mansfield Town in the EFL Trophy.
He joined Nottingham Forest at the age of eight and remained there until RB Leipzig snapped him up when he was 16. He went straight into the German side's Under-17s and earned his first taste of senior football with Dutch second division side FC Dordrecht in August 2020. He spent six months in the Netherlands before returning to Germany and, after three more months with Leipzig's Under-19s, Newcastle United came calling and brought the Englishman home.
