First Interview | Taylor Moore

5 July 2022

New signing, Taylor Moore, sat down with Salop to discuss his move to Montgomery Waters Meadow.

On completing the move:

“I’m very happy to get it over the line and it’s nice to do something different and fly out to meet the boys on a pre-season camp.”

On why he chose Shrewsbury Town:

“The manager - definitely the manager - and the ambition the club is showing with the signings that they’ve made over the past few weeks just shows the direction that the club wants to go but yeah, it was definitely the manager.

“Steve Cotterill is someone that I know from Bristol, I’ve met him a lot over the years so I know that the move was something that he’s eyed up and that he’s wanted to get done as quickly as possible but I’m obviously still contracted to Bristol City so it wasn’t as straight forward. I definitely took my time and wanted to make sure I made the right decision but the more time I had, the more I realised that when you’ve got a really good manager like Steve Cotterill and a club that’s showing a lot of ambition and really want you, you’ve got to go.”

On his time in Spain so far:

“I didn’t get here until just shy of 2 am [this morning] so it was a bit of a long one but it just goes to show the way the club handled things. Yesterday morning I gave the green light to the manager and I let Bristol City know this is where I wanted to come and by yesterday night I was out here! The club got everything sorted and honestly, they were brilliant.

“It [the hotel] looks really really nice. Thankfully it’s quite cloudy today and not as warm as it was. I’ve spoken to some of the boys and they’ve talked me through the work they’ve done over the past few days but for today as a little integration day, it’s quite nice for the clouds to come out. I can sense that from the work they’ve been putting in over the past week that I should be thankful I narrowly missed the session yesterday! I’m actually quite eager to get going because once you’re out on the pitch and playing football, that’s when you’re actually feeling the happiest.”

On himself as a player:

“I’d probably say I’m very versatile and I like to play with my heart on my sleeve and with a smile on my face and try and enjoy it. I’m actually here to help push the team as high up the table as we can and that’s something the manager set out in our first conversations. I’d probably say [that I prefer to play] in the back three but I’m eager to learn in new positions as well so if it’s something that the team needs then I’m all for it. I’m looking forward to getting to work with the staff and the manager and seeing where I can take my game to the next level.”
