Kade Craig signs professional terms

14 June 2022

Shrewsbury Town is delighted to announce that 19-year-old defender Kade Craig, has signed his first professional deal with the club.

A natural centre-half, Kade Craig had formerly played for Birmingham City but has made huge strides since joining Salop and has now become a member of Steve Cotterill's first-team squad.

Having impressed the coaching staff at the Shrewsbury Sports Village, the young defender was recently rewarded for his efforts with time training time at the Sundorne Castle training ground with Town's first team. Having made positive strides during the early stages of his Town career, the youngster was named on the first-team bench for a number of Town’s league fixtures last season.

Academy Director David Longwell said:

"Kade was a regular player for the Under-18s last season and thanks to his performances he was up training with the first team during which he has done really well.

“Because he’s trained with the first team regularly and has featured on the bench, the manager and staff thought he was due to be given extra time to see how he will develop. It’s a great opportunity to see how he can keep progressing within the first-team squad.

“He’s a left-sided player, he can play left of a back three, left-back or left-wing-back. He’s got a great attitude and he’s done really well since he’s come in with us so we’re delighted he’s going to be with us for another season."
