Salop Sign Jordan Shipley!

11 May 2022

Shrewsbury Town is delighted to announce the signing of Jordan Shipley from Coventry City for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old midfielder has signed a three-year deal at Montgomery Waters Meadow and will officially join the squad on June 10th. He has experience playing as a central midfielder, an attacking midfielder, and a left-midfielder and becomes Steve Cotterill's first signing ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Shipley spent his entire career with the Sky Blues - a club he joined at the age of seven. He progressed through the youth system and academy at Coventry and went on to make 162 first-team appearances for the club.

He made his professional debut at the back end of the 2016/17 season when he came on as a substitute in a 1-0 win over Walsall. He also scored for the Sky Blues at Wembley in their League Two play-off final victory against Exeter City in 2018.

Shipley made ten Championship appearances last season and scored one goal. He also played regularly with Marko Marosi at Coventry City during the 2020/21 season.

He has also appeared for the Republic of Ireland's Under-21s on two occasions.

Shrewsbury Town boss Steve Cotterill said:

"I'm really pleased to have got Jordan in so early on. He's a good player and it's a great time to sign him, he scores goals and he's a good young man with a nice family so I think he'll fit in well.

"I've done my homework and I've had meetings with him so I do know him well [as a person]. With all the data and clips that are flying around you know what you're getting with a footballer but you don't know the person until you meet them face-to-face, but after meeting him I think he's the right type of person we want in the squad and to sign a player at 24-years-old for a fee puts some good value back into the squad and the move is also good business for the club as well.

"[He'll bring] athleticism, a great left foot, and goals [to the squad]."

Welcome to the club, Jordan!
