Town fan helps club install new state-of-the-art CCTV at the Meadow

26 October 2022

A new state-of-the-art CCTV system has been installed at Montgomery Waters Meadow thanks to Shrewsbury fan Andy Butcher.

Andy, who is from Pontesbury, is a lifelong Town supporter and is a director at KJ Electronics Systems LTD - a Shrewsbury-based firm that specialises in security systems.

KJ Electronics Systems LTD has installed a host of high-definition, state-of-the-art, cameras around the stadium to help keep all supporters safe on a matchday.

And he has done it at a discounted rate in order to give something back to the football club he loves.

"I've been a Shrewsbury fan all of my life so when the club asked for a quote to upgrade their CCTV I wanted to help out as much as I could.

"I'd have done it for free if I could but I'm glad I've been able to help out and support the club in this way."

Lawrence Ellerby, safety officer at Shrewsbury Town, said: "We are very grateful to Salop season ticket holder Andy Butcher of KJ Electronics Systems Ltd who gave the club a great deal to upgrade the 15-year-old CCTV system around the stadium.

"As we all know advances in this type of technology have been incredible in recent years so it's fantastic for the club to have the latest CCTV internally and externally around the full stadium.

"The system has massively improved the sharpness of the footage and enables us on matchdays to ensure every area of the 24 acres is covered to ensure everyone can enjoy a safe matchday experience."
