Salop secure Rob Street on season-long loan

1 September 2022

Shrewsbury Town are delighted to announce the signing of versatile forward Rob Street on a season-long loan from Crystal Palace.

The 20-year-old is described as a combative attacker by Crystal Palace and has started off the season playing in Premier League 2 for The Eagles' under-23s side.

So far this term, he has played in all four matches, scoring twice and claiming one assist.

Palace rewarded Street with a professional contract in the summer of 2020 after he shone during his scholarship.

After six months with the under-23s, Street joined Torquay United in the National League in January 2021. He made five appearances in the two-month-long loan.

Upon his return to Palace's under-23s side, he scored a crucial goal in the play-off semi-final against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

He then scored the first goal in the penalty shoot-out against Sunderland in the final to send the under-23s on their way to promotion to Premier League 2 Division 1.

His contribution to the under-23's promotion earned him a place on the bench of Palace's first team in the Premier League on two occasions at the start of last season.

After scoring six goals in 14 games for the under-23s in the latter half of 2021, Street earned a loan move to Newport County in January 2022. He made 18 Sky Bet League Two appearances for the Welsh club, scoring twice in that time.

Street was in attendance at Town's Papa John's Trophy match at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers under-21s on Tuesday night.
