Foundation Feature | Bike2Bolton a huge success!

24 April 2023

The Shrewsbury Town Foundation has raised over £2,500 following their recent Bike2Bolton challenge!

On a rainy Friday morning, seven intrepid cyclists set out on a mission to support Shrewsbury Town FC Foundation by cycling over 100 miles from our home ground, Montgomery Waters Meadow, to the University of Bolton Stadium to raise funds and showcase their away day dedication.

Our team of cyclists were given the opportunity to represent the foundation and to spread awareness of the important work that the charity does in the local community. The event was also a great opportunity for the cyclists to challenge themselves physically and mentally while supporting a good cause.

Setting off at 10am on Friday morning, they travelled through the beautiful countryside of Shropshire, passing through villages and towns along the way, stopping at The Venue, home of The New Saints FC, before arriving at their rest stop for the night in Chester.

After resting and refuelling, the cyclists continued their journey towards Bolton early on Saturday morning, making quick progress and arriving ahead of schedule at the stadium. Upon their arrival, the team were welcomed by Shrewsbury fans and met the first-team players who congratulated them on their efforts.

The Bike2Bolton event was a huge success, raising over £2,500 for the Shrewsbury Town FC Foundation's community projects. It was a testament to the hard work and dedication of the cyclists, who showed incredible resilience and determination throughout their journey.

The Shrewsbury Town FC Foundation couldn't be prouder of the cyclists and the work they have done to support their community. The cyclists' journey was a remarkable achievement, and they should be commended for their hard work and dedication. Let us hope that this event inspires others to take on similar challenges and to support their local communities in whatever way they can.

Milly Wheeler, fundraising and partnerships manager, said:

"Bike2Bolton has been an absolute pleasure to organise and the commitment from the cyclists has been inspirational!

"We've managed to raise over £2,500 thanks to the generosity of the Shrewsbury Town fans that have supported them on their journey.

"The funds raised from this event mean that Shrewsbury Town FC Foundation can continue making a difference in the local community. I couldn't be prouder!"
