Pre Sheffield Wednesday | Marko Marosi

28 April 2023

Marko Marosi previewed tomorrow's game against Sheffield Wednesday at Montgomery Waters Meadow.

The goalkeeper, who is set to make his 97th Salop appearance against the Owls, has missed just two league matches this season - due to an injury in October - and was ever-present in the division in 2021/22.

Marko has enjoyed an outstanding season so far and picked up the OSC Player of the Season award at Tuesday night's presentation evening.

His campaign was typified by his excellent performance away at Bolton Wanderers last time out, during which the 29-year-old made a host of brilliant saves.

ON OUR REMAINING THREE GAMES:

"Spirits are high. We will give it our all for the next three games.

"We want to get back into that top 10. It's been tricky lately, it’s been really tough for the boys out there (due to the number of injuries).

"But I think they have done the whole club proud.  We just need to keep working hard, keep going and keep believing and see where that takes us."

ON WHAT THE PAST FEW WEEKS HAVE BEEN LIKE:

"First of all, I have to concentrate on myself to make sure I am doing my job.

"Then it’s about helping the boys in front, just by communicating at the back.

"Young Kade Craig came in for his debut against Plymouth and I thought he did really well. It’s a great achievement for him to make his debut.

ON HAVING ALREADY PLAYED 46 GAMES THIS SEASON:

"I’m really happy with that. Unfortunately, I had to miss a couple of games.

"But it’s been really good for me, playing so many games.

"That is all you can ask for as a footballer – you want to play as many games as possible. I’m really happy with that."

ON CLOSING IN ON 100 SHREWSBURY APPEARANCES:

"I finish the season on 99 – 'oh wow, that’s great!'

"That’s fantastic. For two seasons, that’s unbelievable really."

ON BEING NAMED THE OSC PLAYER OF THE SEASON:

"I was quite surprised.

"As you know, last year, two of the outfield boys (Luke Leahy and Dan Udoh) absolutely cleaned up and I thought it would be the same this season.

"It was a really nice surprise and I appreciated it so much. I just need to keep working hard and keep doing my bit for the team.

"But it was really nice to feel the love from the fans."
