Shrewsbury Town Women are delighted to confirm the appointment of Derry Creighton as our new head coach.
Following a rigorous recruitment process, the club's new board came to the collective decision to offer the role to Derry who has a wealth of knowledge in coaching with a UEFA B licence and an impressive coaching background in the women’s game.
Derry has previously been Crewe Alexandra Women’s first team coach, Nottingham Forest Development head coach and first team assistant coach at Nottingham Trent University.
Outside of the women’s game, Derry has had impressive experiences abroad as a coach for Manchester City in the UAE and working with Liverpool’s international academy for over three years - experiences that have seen him visit a variety of different countries.
Derry has discussed his new role at Shrewsbury Town and much more with us.
ON THE APPOINTMENT:
"I am extremely delighted about becoming the new Shrewsbury Town Women's head coach. Right from the first experience of meeting the staff and players I knew it was going to be a positive experience for all in this welcoming environment.
"I have been fortunate to work in some first-class environments and work under some great people, so for me naturally, this is the next step in my career. The whole structure surrounding the club both on and off the pitch has a fantastic feel. The environment that has been created is a testament to the hard work people have put in to set this club up for a bright future.
FOUNDATIONS AT THE CLUB
"Tom (Peevor, previous head coach) has set the foundations well and hands the team over in a great place. This showed from last season with a double-cup win.
AMBITIONS
"Ultimately, I am very ambitious and that is matched by the club's aims.
"The structure of the club is brilliant, everybody here is aligned to the same target of taking the club further.
"I am very excited to see how far we can take the club not just on the pitch but off it as well to grow women’s football in the surrounding area.”
