The Chairman, Roland Wycherley MBE, and board of directors are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Duncan Montgomery LLP(hons) Dip L.P, CTA, ATT as Finance Director of Shrewsbury Town FC.
Mr Montgomery will bring his business acumen and skills to the board which will complement and provide further stability for the future of the club post covid.
Duncan will have specific responsibility for finance, given his background as a finance specialist and businessman in the Shropshire and nearby area for over twenty years.
One of his businesses recently provided sponsorship for the new televisions in the Sovereign Suite.
He also fits the board’s main criteria going forward which is, to remain ambitious and sustainable to continue our long term strategy to further progress all monetary aspects of the club, supporting the team, youth academy, stadium and training ground facilities, and community engagement through the foundation.
Duncan Montgomery said: “I am deeply honoured to be invited on to the board of directors of Shrewsbury Town FC and further strengthen the finance expertise of our local football club.
"The club has been run exceptionally well for many years under the stewardship of Roland (Wycherley MBE) and I will be looking to maintain sustainable finances to enable the club to push forward in the wake of unprecedented financial difficulties following the effects of Covid and the devastating increase in energy costs.
"Shrewsbury Town FC is a club which we should all be very proud of and we must continue to evolve to ensure the continued growth not just of the fan base but also for our football club as a whole."
It is with regret that, as Duncan joins, an existing board member, James Hughes is leaving as a director, having given many years of service.
We take this opportunity to thank James for his support and commitment over the past 13 years and wish him every success in the future.
Duncan will join the Chairman, Roland Wycherley MBE, Paul Delves (vice chairman), Brian Caldwell (Company Secretary & Chief Executive), on the Board of Directors.
