Vale went on to get another in the 52nd minute, but Salop secured all three points in the end.
For the visitors, Accrington’s Saturday fixture finished 0-0 in their trip away at Cheltenham Town.
Shrewsbury and Accrington have faced each other 24 times before, with Salop winning 11 of those, drawing six and losing seven. The last time these sides met in August, the game ended in a 1-0 win for Accrington at the Wham Stadium.
