Post Wycombe | Christian Saydee

25 February 2023

Christian Saydee chatted to the media following our impressive 2-0 win over Wycombe.

The striker put in an outstanding performance against the Chairboys - with Saydee influential in Town's opening goal.

Christian picked up the ball on the half-way line. He then turned away from Joe Jacobson and ran the best part of 50 yards before delivering a wonderful cross that Jordan Willis turned into his own net.

Christian is also close pals with Rekeil Pyke who netted Town's second goal just moments after coming off the subs bench.

Speaking post-match, the striker discussed his and the team's performance and thanked our fans for their outstanding support at Montgomery Waters Meadow.

ON THE WIN:

"It was fun today. They (Wycombe) are really good at what they do. But I felt like that defeat (to Accrington) last week pushed us today - we showed how much of a team we are and how much we want to win. I'm buzzing."

ON THE TEAM'S PERFORMANCE:

"When we lost last week it was painful.

"In training, we tried to get that togetherness back. We wanted to get back to winning ways back and I think we fought for each other today and kept running until the final whistle."

ON HIS ASSIST FOR THE FIRST GOAL:

"We have been working on Marko (Marosi) kicking it out to me.

"When it came into me I just thought to get my body in the way.

"Once I turned him I just thought keep going and obviously Bows (Ryan Bowman) is clinical in front of goal.

"I just wanted to put it in the area. I'm not sure if he touched it or not but I'm going to say he touched it."

ON PLAYING ALONGSIDE RYAN:

"I'm buzzing because Bowman is so experienced so he's always trying to help me.

"I think playing with him, I have to change my game a bit and learn different things which is better for me because I can get better as a player.

"Bowman is always helping me but it's the same with Streety (Rob Street). If I'm playing with Streety we are always talking. Streety works really hard for me and they're both a credit."

ON THE CLEAN SHEET:

"The midfielder and the back line Dunks (Chey Dunkley), Penno (Matt Pennington) and Flanno (Tom Flanagan) head everything.

"Tails (Taylor Moore) and Shippers (Jordan Shipley) were up and down [and] Skip (Luke Leahy) and Killian (Phillips) were everywhere.

"That's the fight we have got. I think it shows on the pitch how much it means to us."

ON REKEIL'S GOAL:

"Pykey (Rekeil Pyke) has always got something. I think he's such a good player.

"He is quick and when he is in front of goal he normally puts it away. I'm buzzing for Pykey. Me and him are really close so I'm happy for him."

ON THE SCENES AT THE END WITH THE FANS:

"Playing here is always good for us. The fans are always with us win, draw or lose they are always with us we just love them and love playing here."

ON THE SEASON RUN-IN:

"We will just keep fighting and keep pushing for that play-off position and hopefully we can get it. We will keep pushing and fighting and try our best to get in there and hopefully that will happen."
