Pre Forest Green Rovers | Rob Street

27 January 2023

Rob Street spoke to the media ahead of tomorrow's game against Forest Green Rovers.

The striker has impressed up front alongside Christian Saydee this season - with Street earning plenty of plaudits from supporters and manager Steve Cotterill for his all-action and committed displays.

Town enter tomorrow's game looking to register a fourth consecutive victory in League One after thumping wins over Burton and Cambridge were followed by a dramatic late winner at MK Dons.

Speaking to the assembled media, Rob discussed Shrewsbury's excellent form and his own impressive performances.

And he also spoke about the recent arrival of Killian Phillips - who like Rob has joined Town on loan from Crystal Palace.

ON THREE WINS ON THE SPIN:

"We are all feeling really good at the moment. We’ve had three wins on the bounce and some really convincing performances.

"The camp is in good spirits. We just want to play again now and keep the run going.

"We don’t feel like we want a day off! We’ve had the Tuesday game and now we’re all looking forward to Saturday. It’s no problem."

ON HIS PERFORMANCES:

"I’m feeling good. I’m feeling fit and I’m feeling sharp.

"Hopefully, a few more goals will come for myself, but the most important thing is the team wins.

"We’ve scored 10 goals in the last three games so if I’m involved in a team that’s done that it’s really positive."

ON PRAISE FOR HIS DISPLAYS:

"Whatever I can bring to the team, whether that is stretching defences, running channels, hold-up play – whatever I am bringing to help the team, that’s all I can do.

"It’s nice to get some goals yourself and I’m sure they will come over time. I just need to keep getting in the right areas.

"But the most important thing is the team getting three points every week so we can keep pushing up the table."

ON HIS PARTNERSHIP WITH CHRISTIAN:

"It's a very new relationship because we only met each other at the start of the season.

"But definitely over the past few weeks we have really clicked and we are now bouncing off each other a lot more in games.

"Things are becoming second nature on the pitch and you get that from training. I know when I’m making this run he’ll make that run and vice-versa.

"As a team we’ve got 10 goals in our last three games so we just need to keep going.

"The whole team looks really good at the minute, even the boys that are not in the team but are coming off the bench – everyone is really clicking at the moment, we’re in a really good position."

ON HOW HE’S ENJOYING HIS TIME HERE:

“I’m loving it here. We’ve got an amazing group - the staff and players and the fans have been brilliant ever since I got here so I’m thoroughly enjoying it here.

“I’ve really enjoyed it. Obviously it is quite a way from home for me but it has been a really good experience.

"I’ve not sat through any days and felt homesick or wanted to go back so yeah, I’ve really enjoyed it.”

ON KILLIAN PHILLIPS:

“I spoke to Killian (just before he signed). I said how good the club is, how exciting this season could be and I told him it’d be brilliant if he could jump on board if that’s what he and the club wanted.

“I spoke to him and the gaffer was aware of him and wanted to bring him in – he’s a top player and a top guy so he’s settled in really well.

“I get on really well with him. He’s one of my good friends so it’s been nice to have him here. Hopefully he can help the team and push us to more points.

“The boys are brilliant. The senior players are brilliant and they include the younger boys.

“Everybody just has the same mentality and we just want to do well and play well for the team.

“There aren’t any individuals in this squad which is really good and for someone like Killian coming in. It’s really easy to settle in as long as you've got your head screwed on."
