Luke Leahy moves on

11 July 2023

Shrewsbury Town can confirm Luke Leahy has joined Wycombe after submitting a transfer request.

In recent weeks the club has turned down multiple bids from the Chairboys for the midfielder.

We also offered Luke a new deal to remain at the Croud Meadow.

The player, though, decided his future was elsewhere and went on to submit a written transfer request.

We then accepted a bid from Wycombe once they met our valuation of the player.

Director of football, Micky Moore said: “We received numerous bids for Luke which were all turned down.

“Luke was informed about what was going on all the way through and we subsequently offered him a new and improved contract which he turned down.

“He made it quite clear that he would like a new challenge and to move on to pastures new.

“But we also made it very clear to Wycombe that we would not sell unless they met our asking price.

“As a result, Luke put a transfer request in. Then on Tuesday, Wycombe came back and agreed to our asking price and the add-ons we wanted in the deal.

“We then granted permission for them to speak to Luke and complete the transfer.”

Everyone at Shrewsbury Town would like to thank Luke for his incredible efforts over the past two years. We wish him and his family all the best for the future.
