Shrewsbury are pleased to confirm Chris Skitt has returned to the club as head of medical performance.
Chris – who was aged 25 at the time - became the youngest physio in the EFL when he first joined Town in 2009.
He spent the next nine years working under managers Paul Simpson, Graham Turner, Micky Mellon and Paul Hurst among others prior to his departure in 2018.
A born and bred Salopian, Chris has now returned to the club and is looking forward to once again working with chairman Roland Wycherley MBE as well as director of football Micky Moore and head coach Matt Taylor.
Chris said:
“I’m absolutely delighted to return to a club that means so much to me.
“It was the hardest decision of my life when I left but it was something I felt I had to do at the time due to the prospects that were in front of me.
“For many years I have offered my support to the club and I am now absolutely delighted to be able to be part of the team once again.
“As soon as I spoke to the chairman there was no decision to make – I couldn’t wait to return and work for such an amazing person and at such an amazing club.
“I’m also really looking forward to working with the new head coach, the director of football and all the players ahead of what we hope will be a very exciting campaign.”
Chairman Roland Wycherley MBE said:
“I was gutted when Chris left us, along with Paul Hurst, to go to Ipswich.
“But after recently talking to him, I am delighted he is rejoining club.
“Chris’s return and local contacts in the medical world will benefit the club enormously.”
