Shrewsbury Town

Shrewsbury fell to a 4-0 defeat at Blackpool's Bloomfield Road.

A brace from Jake Beesley together with a Jordan Rhodes penalty and Kyle Joseph strike saw the Tangerines to victory.

Team news:

Boss Taylor opted for a 3-4-2-1 formation for the trip to Bloomfield Road with Joe Anderson joining Chey Dunkley and Tom Flanagan in the back three.

That meant Jason Sraha moved to left wing-back with Carl Winchester on the right. In midfield, Elliott Bennett lined up alongside Taylor Perry with Jordan Shipley and Tom Bayliss in the number 10 roles. Dan Udoh was the lone striker.

Blackpool lined up in a 3-4-1-2 formation with Karamoko Dembele playing just behind a strike pairing of Jake Beesley and Jordan Rhodes.

Match report:

It was Town who created the first chance of the match when - just two minutes in - Tom Bayliss produced a wonderful piece of individual skill.

Collecting the ball in the middle of the park, the Town man did really well to lift the ball over a defender's head before charging at goal.

From just outside the box, he then arrowed a strike towards the bottom corner that Dan Grimshaw did well to parry away.

Despite that bright start, Blackpool went on to open the scoring in the 18th minute when Karamoko Dembele was fouled in the box by Tom Flanagan. 

Jordan Rhodes stepped up to take the resultant penalty and fired the ball into the bottom corner for his 10th goal of the campaign.

Just past the half-hour mark, the hosts doubled their lead when CJ Hamilton ventured down the right before squaring to Jake Beesley who bundled it home. 

Town's afternoon then suffered another blow when - just before the break - Bayliss was forced off through injury, with Ryan Bowman replacing him.

With an hour on the clock, boss Taylor decided to switch his wing backs with Tunmise Sobowale and Mal Benning entering the fray. 

But just 60 seconds later, Blackpool came close to a third - with Marko Marosi denying them with an excellent double save.

First, the keeper got down well to keep out a fierce Beesley strike from 18 yards. But the ball then fell kindly for Rhodes with Marosi producing a strong arm to deny the striker from point-blank range.

The hosts did grab a third in the 75th minute when Kyle Joseph fired a powerful strike into the roof of the net from a tight angle. 

Minutes later, Dan Udoh had a decent effort at goal for Town, but Grimshaw claimed it well.  

But with less than eight minutes to go, Beesley got Blackpool’s fourth - and his second - when he was slipped in one-on-one and rounded Marosi.
