FA Cup Match Preview | Shrews Women v Sheffield FC

17 October 2023

Shrewsbury Town Women take on Sheffield FC this weekend in the Women’s FA Cup third round qualifier.

The match kicks off at 2pm on Sunday 22nd October at home on the Community Pitch outside the Croud Meadow.

Sheffield FC currently sit 11th out of 12 in the Division One Midlands League having picked up just four points from their seven league games so far this season. They were in action last week in a 2-2 draw at home to Lincoln City Women and today marks their first match in this year's Women's FA Cup

Shrewsbury Town Women sit midtable in the West Midlands Regional Premier Division - one tier below Sheffield FC.

Salop started the season brilliantly and won their opening two matches, however, they head into this cup tie off back-to-back defeats including a 1-0 away defeat to Kidderminster Harriers FC on Sunday.

Shrews Women beat Shifnal Town 4-2 at The Acoustafoam Stadium to reach this stage of the competition.

Kim Bebbington has started the season exceptionally for Town, scoring four in the opening five league games. Katie Doster is second on the goalscoring charts with three goals to her name. Alicia Robinson leading the way in the assists table with three in the opening five.

Sheffield FC have been struggling to find the back of the net this campaign with their two top goal scorers Amy Nelson (forward) and Millie Fugler (defender) both on two goals each. This, combined with leaking 13 goals in the league so far this season, has contributed to this disappointing start.
