Wigan fixture to be dedicated to Her Game Too!

12 February 2024

Our fixture at home to Wigan Athletic on Saturday 17th February will be dedicated to Her Game Too.

Her Game Too was founded in May 2021 by 12 passionate female football fans, who are committed to growing the campaign with the aim of fostering an ethos in football in which women are welcomed and respected equally.

By way of dedication, Shrewsbury Town Women's director of football and WSL commentator Chloe Hudson-Jones will be on BBC Radio Shropshire, the matchday playlist will be made up of female artists, the matchday programme will feature interviews with Shrewsbury Town Women players and staff, and the Shrewsbury Town Foundation will be running a host of events around the ground.

There will also be female ball retrievers, female flag bearers, and Shrewsbury Town Women will do a lap of the pitch at half-time.

The aims of Her Game Too are to create awareness, educate, research, develop a strong sense of community, create regular content to champion women in football – players, staff, and fans, create strong relationships with clubs and communities, have a presence at football grounds and sports bars to build a more welcoming environment for young girls and women, continue to campaign against sexism in football, continue to campaign against online abuse.
