Fans urged to get in early for Wrexham game

6 January 2024

Supporters heading to the Croud Meadow for our FA Cup clash with Wrexham are being encouraged to get to the stadium early.

The third-round encounter, which kicks off at 2pm and is being broadcast by S4C, takes place this Sunday and is a sell-out.

With more than 9,500 people heading to the stadium, fans are being encouraged to get the stadium early for a number of reasons, including local floods.

Due to the recent excessive rainfall, the railway bridge at the Sainsbury's end of Super Blues Way has a large amount of standing water underneath it.

There are also other floods around Shrewsbury that may impact people travelling to the stadium.

To encourage fans to get to the Croud Meadow early, Smithy's Bar will be open for home supporters only from 11am.

The FanZone - which will be open for both Town and Wrexham fans - opens at 11.30am.

Supporters are asked, if possible, to not bring bags to the game to help make it quicker to get fans into the stadium.

Shrewsbury fans are also urged to get to the stadium early as our mascots from the day will be picked from the crowd.

Club staff will be heading around the stadium in the build-up to kick-off to find nine deserving youngsters.

The winners will then get the chance to meet and have photographs with the players as well as head coach Matt Taylor.

They will also walk out with the starting XI ahead of the game kicking off at 2pm this Sunday, all completely free!

To have a chance of being chosen, all you have to do is be aged 12 or under and come to the game wearing a Town shirt.
