For Shrewsbury Town Women FC, it’s been a positive first half of the season, not just on the pitch but off it too.
On the pitch, we currently sit fifth in the league, with games in hand on the teams above.
Overall, we have been happy with the first half of the season even though looking back, we slipped up in a few games where we should have taken the cup win or all three points.
As a squad of players and staff, we learned a lot from these games and have really grown and developed as a team since then. We have settled into a consistent formation and the players have a really strong understanding of what our game strategy and philosophy looks and feels like.
As a staff team, we have worked together closely to build strong relationships and also to ensure that we are empowering one another within their roles. Everyone’s opinions and views matter and we all have a different skill set. It is really important that we bring out and use everyone’s skill set to in turn bring the best out of the wider team.
Off the pitch, we have started to build a really dedicated fanbase and have also introduced matchday packages and player sponsorships. We launched this just before the Christmas break and have been pleasantly surprised with how inundated we have been with interest from fans, local clubs and businesses.
We are also truly grateful to have wonderfully generous sponsors for the club. Without our sponsors, we would not be able to run the club as we do.
We will continue this work in building community relationships through football festivals, charity events and much more.
We have a busy second half of the season, both in the league, the League Cup and the Tom Farmer Challenge Cup. It would be great to see more of you coming to support the women’s team. We aim to make every game a fun family day out.
