At Shrewsbury Town we are proud to say that we operate not only on matchdays but 365 days a year with conferencing and events welcoming over 250,000 guests per year.
Therefore, from Sunday, our supporters and business clients will see a huge 160-foot advertising banner from our partners Montacs, owned by club board member Duncan Montgomery, along our car park fencing.
In a new style of partnership, the new contract with Montacs has been written with a release clause, so any other business can purchase the same space with payment of a release fee.
This innovative idea ensures the club is getting fair value and is not tied into a long-term contract and means the company is paying market rates.
Duncan Montgomery, director at Montacs, said: “This is a fabulous piece of advertising for us, partnering with a brand like Shrewsbury Town, at a site that has a footfall of well over a quarter of a million people a year, excluding the football crowds.
"That is a huge number of people, making the signage significantly more valuable to us.
"It was great working with Andy (commercial manager Andy Tretton) and the team to make this happen in a new and innovative way"
Andy Tretton, commercial manager at Shrewsbury Town, added: “This is a first for Shrewsbury Town, a new way to do business that adds value to both sides and we are confident this will grow.
"It is a first to approach it this way and we hope this will form part of more 365-day partnership opportunities that can exist outside of football and create competitive tension in the market for previously unused marketing opportunities.”
