George Nurse

Date of birth

George Nurse signed for Salop in July 2021, leaving Bristol City behind for the first time in his career. The young left-sided defender had been with the Robins since he was seven and had progressed all the way through their academy ranks to the Under-23s.

His first loan experience was in the National League South with Weston Super Mare during the first half of the 2018/19 season. He spent the entirety of the 2019/20 season with Newport County – a successful spell that saw him make 26 appearances and score a last-minute screamer against Carlisle United.

He spent six months of the 2020/21 season at Walsall but that was cut short due to injury, and he returned to Bristol City.

Nurse made 53 appearances for Town in the 2021/22 season - the most of any player in the squad.

However, he suffered a gutting ACL injury in September 2022, resulting in the end of his season. Upon his return in July 2023, George was once again the victim of incredibly bad luck as he ruptured his ACL again.
