Mat returned for his second spell with Shrewsbury in the summer of 2015 after previously having a loan-spell at the club in the 2010/11 season.

He started his career with his boyhood club Birmingham City and made over 50 appearances before moving to Watford.

It was during his time with Watford that Sadler joined Town on loan and he was ever-present during his one season at the Montgomery Waters Meadow.

After release from Watford he joined Walsall where he was again an ever-present, before a similarly productive spell with Crawley Town.

He spent the 2014/15 season with Rotherham in the Championship but didn't get a first team chance and joined Shrewsbury that summer on a two-year deal.

In his first 18 months with Town Sadler was mainly used as a back-up player, but the arrival of Paul Hurst saw him secure a place in the heart of the Town defence and his good form saw him sweep the board at last season’s annual end of season awards.

Mat signed a new two-year deal this summer and has been appointed Club Captain.
