Shrewsbury Town

Matthew Pennington joined the Shrews in the January 2021 transfer window as Steve Cotterill's second signing of the window. The Evertonian made the move to Shropshire on loan until the end of the season.

Pennington began his career in the Toffees youth system but has since enjoyed a number of loan spells in the Sky Bet Championship and League One. In the last three seasons, the centre-back earned regular football with Leeds United, Ipswich Town and Hull City.

Pennington is another member of the Town squad who has represented England at youth level having made one appearance for England under-19s.
