Tom Bloxham was promoted to the first team from the academy towards the end of the 2020/21 season and became a regular in Steve Cotterill’s starting 11 during the 2021/22 campaign.
He started his young career with Leicester City’s academy at the age of seven, but he was released at 13, and went to grassroots side Aylestone Park. When he was playing for their under-15s, he caught the attention of Academy Head of Recruitment Gary Wharton, who prompted Salop to bring the towering forward to Shrewsbury.
Bloxham has made the most appearances of any academy graduate in the last two years and opened his goalscoring account with a spectacular overhead kick against Gillingham in August 2021.
