Jess First kicked a ball at the age of five when she played for her primary school.
She joined Shrewsbury Town's centre of excellence at the age of 8 and also played for Shrewsbury Juniors from U12's to U16s making over 100 appearances. This was as well as playing for county, representing Shropshire in the Shropshire Schools And Colleges Football Association from the age of 11 years up to 18. She trained with Town for a year before making her first appearance at the age of 16 making her the youngest player in the team at that time.
