Skipper looking forward to Town's first trip to Fratton Park in 23 years

Shrewsbury Town skipper Matt Richards insists he and his team mates are really looking forward to Saturday's trip to Portsmouth.

Richards, hoping Town can build on last Sunday's 1-0 win over his former club Walsall, stressed the Fratton Park clash - Shrewsbury's first game at Pompey for 23 years - was one to relish.

"With their history, the stadium and the fans, it's going to be a big occasion and the lads are looking forward to it and are really up for it," said Richards.

"I've been there with Ipswich a few years ago but I was a sub and didn't get on.

"It's a famous old ground and they have a great support. They really get behind their team so it's a good place to go and the lads are looking forward to it."

Richards added: "It's a good experience playing at all these different grounds.

"Only a few years ago Portsmouth were in the Premiership and winning the FA Cup.

"They've been through difficult times but they seem to have a good team and it's going to be a difficult game.

"But, again, it's a game we've got to look at as one where we can take points from. We'll be going for three points as we try and pick up maximum points from every game."
