Shaun looking forward to Sunday's big game in front of a packed Meadow

Town’s next challenge is against Charlton Athletic in the second leg of the Sky Bet League One Play-Off semi finals.

The Shrews are going into the second leg with a one-goal advantage over The Addicks, who travel to The Montgomery Waters Meadow tomorrow afternoon.

Shaun Whalley is pleased his side are going into the game with a slight advantage, but as always is expecting a tough game from the visitors.

“We have another 90 minutes to hopefully seal the result and go through. They have a lot of quality and they will have spells in the game as they did on Thursday but hopefully we can not let them score tomorrow and get the same result,” said Whalley.

“We have got to look to start the game well and nullify them as much as we can and create chances ourselves and try and get a goal which would give us the two goal lead.

“We have just got to be solid all over the pitch and solid at the back and hopefully the result will come from being organised and good defensively.

“We wont just be sat back with 11 men behind the ball and letting them dictate the play to us. They will have spells in the game, we know that but it’s important we can have our spells and hopefully that will see us through.”

Shaun was also pleased to learn that the team will be backed by over 9,000 Salopians at the home leg, he said: “I’m glad the fans have got behind us like they have, ever since I have come here anyway.

“Even when we were down the bottom of the table I remember they used to give a good atmosphere and hopefully it will be the same tomorrow night and I’m made up it’s a full house.

“When you go to away stadiums with big crowds you always want to silence the crowd or get them to be on the home teams back.

“The Shrewsbury fans aren’t normally like that and I’m sure they wont get on our back but I am sure Charlton will try and get the crowd to turn on us but I know they wont. It will be a good atmosphere.”
